I'd like to get a set of lowering springs for the front of my Maverick. Keeping the stock 6 cyl. springs with the 302 installed will probably give me the "stance" I want, but in my experience stock 6 springs are kinda mushy and weak under V-8's, and I want the the car to handle right as well as sit right, so I was wondering if the aftermarket Mustang lowering springs would work. If so, what year 'Stang spring is closest to the Mavericks as far as interchangability and spring rates?

Buy lowering springs and cut them?

So, I take it even Mustang lowering springs won't lower a Maverick without cutting?

    Interesting.

    Thanks for the info.

I just bought stiff springs (I "think" they were for a 351 car, not necessarily a Maverick) and cut the 1-1/2 coils off. I think the final ride height was perfect.

Looks like your lowest cost option would be to cut a set of factory V-8 Maverick springs,
This makes for a nice handling slightly firmer ride than stock.

I have a set I`ll take 30.00 for plus shipping if you are interested.:)

I bought a new set of 620lb mustang grab-a-trac springs and cut off one coil. It rides pretty flat.

Does anyone know the xxxlb rating as compared to the engine size of the car...

for instance, 620 lb mustang springs are designed for which year car and which engine?

I just wanted a general idea what size/lb springs I had.

They are not cut yet ,just stock V-8 Maverick coil springs from a `1972 Mav.

But I can cut them if you like. But I can`t promise the stance of your car will be were you want it. As a matter of fact no one could offer you that promise from a set of springs new or used.

If you want the springs ,and you`d like them pre-cut . I will cut them for you to your specifications ( 1 coil ,to 1.5 coils max ) I use a die grinder with a cut off wheel to cut them with.

The factory didn't put 620lb springs an anything. I don't think anything even made it up to 500lb from the factory. These are aftermarket performane springs, not replacement parts.

I bought Mustang 550lb springs for a balance of handling and ride quality, as the 620s in my Mustang are pretty firm. They were 1" lowerning springs, and that's about how much they lowered it. You can see the difference between the 550 springs and factory springs in the photo. They are not very expensive at all.
