got my car back tonight. last saturday night i ran a 12.40 at the track. since then i've had frame connectors and a 6 point bar installed. i've also mounted a set of 275/50/15 m/t et street drag radial tires. has anybody tried these yet? if so what tire pressure and how much of a burnout do you do? i'll be going back to the track friday night so i'll see if they make a difference. :)

With the bfg's drag radials I was running, 17.5 pounds worked really well.

Ray I don't know about you but I've never seen a tire hook like these BFG's, it's gotta be in the compound there made with.
I havn't got to the track with the new engine yet but I'm anxious to see what they do when there heated "properly"

Rick, I'm with you on that. They were damn near as sticky as my 28x10 slicks and launched straight as an arrow. There was one pass that they spun just as bad as my street tires, but it was because I started out in second I guess.
Don- Get those things hot! they say not to, but try it both ways and you'll see what I mean. just make sure to chirp them once after your initial big burnout to get the shredded tire off and you'll be smiling.

not smiling too much ray. did a pretty good burnout first run. had a 1.90 60' time and a 12.63 compared to last weeks 12.40 and 1.80 60'. thought maybe they need to break in a little more. 2nd run i didn't see too much smoke during the burnout. had a 1.95 60' and ran a 12.74. first round of elims i did my burnout and rolled to the line. when i went to bump in it wouldn't move. got it to go a couple of inches to turn the lights on. as soon as i saw he had a good light i shut it down. got towed back to the pits. will still go in reverse but no forward motion. took it to the tranny shop today. (they aren't open) but the guy opened the shop for me to put it on his lift. he just left me the keys to the place and said to close up when finished. we pulled the tranny and he'll rebuild it for me on monday and then we'll put it back in the car. hopefully everything goes right as we leave for bakersfield, california on tuesday a.m. if not then i've got 3 guys who said i can borrow there cars. don't really want to use someone elses car though.

those tires are supposed to work really good according the guys at work.. also the guy i know at mickey thompson really feels its some great technology that they have worked on though you the years and it really paid off!

nothing has hooked better then my street ET's beside the old M&H's i use to have on the car. but i'm sticking with mickey's.. i had BFG drag radials (in fact i still do) but i could never get my car to hook up on them.. maybe it was just the way my car was set up but if i had a choice to run a radial tire for a drag car it would be those mickey thompsons hands down!

ron, the 12.40 was run on m/t et street tires at 13 pounds. size was 26x10.5x15. 4.33 rear end. altitude at that track is 3075. i also run at firebird in phoenix where the altitude is 1325. best time there is 12.14. hope the tranny is rebuilt tomorrow. the car is still on the lift at the shop. that's the only thing left to put in the trailer. supposed to leave 7 a.m. tuesday morning for the div 7 et finals in bakersfield.:)

just got back from bakersfield a little while ago. arrived tuesday night. went to the track on wednesday and got everything set up. time trials started thursday. couldn't get the car to run good. played with about 5 different sets of jets, replaced plugs, etc. finally we changed to a colder plug. that cured the problem but i only had 1 test run left. ran a 12.13. best time so far. i decided to leave it alone and run it as is. still needs a little more jet for bakersfield but might be ok for phoenix. best run was a 12.08 on sunday at 113mph. we started out with 164 cars in our class. after i lost there was 6 cars left so i was pretty happy with the way things turned out. the guy that beat me went on to win the race. the m/t et radials worked best so far at 17 pounds. i usually run about 1.85 60'. at bakersfield i got it down to a 1.73 and thats after we added about 100 pounds of roll bars and frame connectors and other stuff.. i probably would have been in the 11's without the extra weight but i wouldn't have been legal.:)

so the class you run mandates a roll bar? or were you expecting to in faster then 11.90's? take it out and the your run run high 11's :p

i just go in i just hope they don't kick me off the track since my car is right at the barrier of needing a roll bar ;) then again i'd feel alot saver with one.

also what was your 60 ft before at firebird in phoenix when you ran the 12.14? and if you don't mind me asking what was you 1/8 mile time and mph on the 12.08 run and what rpm are you shifting at? i just noticed teh gear you were running. i'm just debating to switching to a 4:11 or something else.

so whats your over all opinion of the radials?
