Has anybody ever seen a 4 lug version of the "Grabber Mag Wheels? I found a set of 4 with new tires today on a 1970 Maverick. I bought em. Polished out pretty well, but will hit them with "Mothers" this weekend. They all have new 205/60 mounted on them, but they are not as tall as what I have now. Next week I will change out the leaf springs, so I will put the new wheels on at the same time. I had never seen these rims in a 4 lug pattern, but here they are. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Take care........Preston

My stepfather got me a set, but they didn't fit, so I gave them back. Anyone want a set of 13" mag wheels with good tires on them?

Must be different then the Pinto 13" - he said they were on a 70 Maverick. Maybe a 14" "option" from the Pinto? Picture please?

This thread is useless without pics!! ;)

Yeah the Pintos and Mustangs had styled steel wheels that looked like Magnum 500s but were 4 lug and 13". These had the late model 4 lug pattern (not like the Maverick).

But I figure you wouldn't buy a 13" mag wheel, so maybe these are aftermarket?

He said he bought them off a Maverick...
    I would think they fit.
They sound like they would almost have to be aftermarket.
I can think of all kinds of Fords that would have these in the 70s, but every one would either be 5 lug or Pinto 4 lug.
Is it possible they are AMC or Dodge?
Seems to me that some Pacers and Gremlins came with those rims too. I just don't know if they would be 4 lug.

I think he is talking about "slots" not "magnum 500S"

The factory Ford slots had a black accent stripe around the inside of the outer part of wheel.

I will try to mount one Sunday. I have to go out of town today and Sat. but I will try one as soon as I get back. They were on a 1970 Maverick, so I am thinking that the pattern is the same on my 72????? Maybe I am wrong. We'll see on Sunday. Thanks guys!! Preston

I think Ford only made slots in 5-lug 14" and 4-lug 13" so they are probably aftermarket ...
I do think that early 1970 Mavericks did come with a 13" wheel ..

I always thought this picture was interesting:

    http://www.geocities.com/cping3/aluminum.jpg

(You may have to cut and paste URL)

It is the 1973 Aluminum wheel off a Grabber in the 1973 brochure. Now all 1973 Mavericks were 5 lug, this was probably a pre-production model. But they did at least have prototype slotted mags in 4 lug.

Good eye ... never noticed that ... obviously it's an artist's rendering though and not a true photo ...

Dayum, Dan. Talk about 'good eyes'. You could tell that's a rendering?
