Nothing to do today so I said screw it, I got the Maverick out and took off. So far I've only driven it in the driveway and up my street once. What started as a run around the block ended up being a 2 hr jaunt all over town. I made several stops for gas, lunch, dog food and beer. I was embarrased to have the poor thing out as it is but you wouldn't believe the attention this thing got. I ran in Foodlion and when I came out there was a small crowd around the car....a couple taking pics. Who'd have thought? Hosed the cob webs off Felt pretty good so I topped off the fuel tank.....errr fuel jug City Country Interstate....steering wheel on crooked by it drives nice and straight still. I thought the tires were flat spotted....they're not. Whew almost fity...not fity thousand miles, fity miles per hr. This baby is still under 48,000 believe it or not. I think the speedo is off because of the rear end swap. I was keeping up with the flow so I'm guessing it's showing 50 and I was doing 60 or so. This rear end is geared much different than the old one, it's in third a little over 25 mph. Shopping Lol at the spray can primer....what the heck it protects the bare spots! 2 hrs later I'm home.....mission accomplished! No issues other than some play in the stg
Thanks. Just thinking about it, the last time I drove this car very much my 2 boys were infants.....they're both in college now. This thing is good for something other than a multi-car discount on my insurance after all.
Do you remember what the teacher said when she caught you chewing gum in class? Same thing goes with the beer. Do you have enough to give everyone here a beer? I remember my first voyage farther than walking distends from home. It does put a smile on your face.
Sounds like you had a great 2 hours Seeing this just makes me want to work harder on my own to get it to a point where I can take it for a ride.
I'm guessing your first trip will be much faster than mine with my 250 straight six! lol At least I got a 250 back in it. With this trans and rear end, I can always drop a V8 in later if I want....I already want!
That first ride { or first in a long time } is what it's all about. No better feeling than actually seeing and feeling all your hard work come together. And I'm sure you found a dozen or more things that wasn't quite like you remembered, or that you want to change. It's addictive! The more you do, the more you want to do! Enjoy it!
Some people will drive anything to get BEER. Car looks good. Looks like you had a great time. I think I'll finsh my Int. so I can go for a cruz.
