What did you originally have and what did you swap to?

if ur running an auto, make sure the torque converter is all the way back inside of the bellhousing of the tranny. it should clicks 3 times and u wont be able to stick ur fingers back there (with a stock converter). that's my first guess

The advice here is correct. Pull the transmission back out. Take the converter and spin it by hand several times while applying slight pressure pushing on it. As you spin it, you should feel it notch back into the transmission. You should feel this twice. One is the input shaft slipping into the converter and second is the converter going into the pump.

You may want to have a look at that front pump before you put the trans back in. It may have cracked it. Open it up and check the pump gears. If the converter isnt in far enough you should have had a hard time getting the trans and block to pull together.
Unbolting the Conv. wont help. I has studs does it not.

that's why i suggested the last bolt...if he turned the flywheel to tighten the bolts and it will not turn now...must be the last converter bolt...:yup:
also check the bellhousing for cracks...(y)

    ...:drive:...
