Since replacing the motor in my truck I have been experiencing something unusual. At an idle my oil gauge dips to low and back to normal. Usually causing the ding and a check gauges light to flicker. Any acceleration and it shows normal consistently. I bought a new sender and it's the same. $50.. Deep socket $10 . I decided to remove the oil pan to inspect the "O" ring on the pick up tube to see if maybe it got nicked. The new one I just got is much bigger in dia. than the first one I put on. Maybe it was sucking air? Not sure.. Then as I am wiping down the area to remove any oil drips so I can put the pan and gasket back on, I discover some loose bolts!
From this place.. http://agaptexasengines.com/1067372.html Waiting to hear back about what to do. In the mean time I have found the torque sequence and specs. I am going to torque them down. I need my truck.
You might be right.. I got it back together yesterday and drove it today about 200 miles with alot of stop and go traffic (Dallas). No drop in pressure
I agree.. Still have not floored it though.. Kinda scared lol I am going to have to say yes. The first one provided to me with the kit is smaller in thickness. I noticed, paid attention rather, to the way it was seating with the new "O" ring. It actually touched both seating surfaces when I plugged the tube in. I think it was sucking air.
Back to dingy and light at idle . From what I been reading it ain't good. What I dread is dealing with the manufacture of this motor. I don't want to get the 100 questions so they can somehow deny me. I been having issues with high bp so they better not play games. It's not like I want to pull the motor, but it needs it in my opinion.
youve got two options here 1. call em and see what they say or 2. yank it and rebuild it yourself and youll know it wont have any problems if you use good quality parts- and just for good measures put a little lock tite on the bolts that keep coming loose
Two days ago I drained a qt and added Lucas. The slight tapping noise I have had since new has gone away.. No ding for low oil pressure as of yet.
Ding! .. Ding! .. .. Ding! ugh.. Must have heard it two hundred times going and coming from Dallas. I installed a mechanical gauge today so I can watch the pressure.. Haven't needed to go anywhere since it was installed.
