manual to automarico C4 swap

Hi Every body, I have a Mav 71' model and I'm thinking to change from manual to automatic C4 transmission and i don't know what need to be done to swap transmission. could any one help me please?

You will need:
C4, bell housing, torque converter, shifter, kick-down linkage, vacuum modulator line and connecting hoses, flex plate to match with your engine balance and starter.

You can re-use:
transmission mount (depending on which mount you have)
Starter (maybe - depending on which you have)

Add-ons:
neutral safety switch - transmission mounted is the easiest but it depends on what you will use for a shifter.

Most of what you need you should be able to get from a donor car.

then I have to get a donor car, I'm going to get a rebuilt transmission, but all other part from a donor car.

Add to the list a radiator with the built in transmission cooler and fittings, and the automatic transmission cooling lines.

Saul, Column or floor shift? The C4 transmission has specific linkage for both.

If column shift, you will need a steering column and linkage.

Automatic brake pedal is optional.

I figured that you were going to get everything from a donor car.
If you don't have a donor car (wrecked car that has the parts you need) then you might have to go with after market pieces to make it all work together.
See what you can find locally or at on-line auctions and then let us know what you have found and what you need. There might be someone who has it. you never know.

 

So far i found last weekend a 77' with automatic transmission maybe I can take everything necessary, also disc brakes.

thanks for your advice, I found a 77' donor car I'll check the car tomorrow I hope everything necessary still on it.

I'm thinking to install a floor shift but I haven't get any one yet

por el momento creo que ya se lo que tengo que buscar para instalar la transmision.

creo que me puedes ayudar en algo mas, vi en tu pagina web que tu Mav tiene direccion hidraulica, yo compre una de mustang igual a la que tu tienes solo que creo que me falta algun soporte para instalar la bomba, me podrias enviar una foto de tu bomba instalada para conocer que soporte tengo que buscar.
