Got my hood painted and on and I go to put hood latch on and "handle" sticks out 2" past hood,my Grabber hood had no latch when I bought it,my stock hood I don't think had a latch either,I think this one came from my '71 Comet parts car,is everything including hood bracket the same on both cars other than the lenth of the "handle"? The Comet hood is much longer,so I know why,and I can just cut this one down if they are the same,my point is,I don't want to cut it up if it's different and won't work as it is all blasted and etch primed and painted.Jack

yup, comet latches are longer because fo the nose on the front.... :yup: you could cut it down and it should work fine but it would prolly be easier just to buy another one for a mav

A Maverick hood latch you push up. A Comet hood latch you pull sideways.....so I would put a Maverick one on there.

Learn something new here all the time ...
I have only had Comets. :D

I imagine if you did cut that down, it might not work too well with the reduced leverage.

You should never modify Comet parts to benefit a Maverick. It's like putting Caddy wheels on a Chevette.

    Maverick Hood Latch

Hello, Have You gotten a hood latch for Your Mav. yet? I have the same problem but I installed the Mav. latch on my Comet and I have to lay on the ground to open up the latch. I could trade or if you still have it buy it outright. 66 Cyclone
