I'm restoring a 71 Comet for my brother. He has some Maverick bucket seat tracks and some 71 -73 Mustang seats. We tried a bolt in the car test today and things didn't fit (of course, that is how our luck goes).
I did some searching but didn't find much info. I'm sure this is a common problem with hopefully simple answers.
Please let me know all I will need to know to get things to fit and have the seat centered behind the steering wheel. Exactly what needs to be done. My mind is fried and I don't want to re-engineer everything.

    Thanks in advance.

My Mav/Comet highback bucket seat tracks bolted to 73 Mustang high back buckets. Maybe you have LDO tracks? Im not sure if those bolt up to Mustang high backs.

Perhaps they are LDO tracks, don't know...
I do know they don't have the correct left to right dimension as the holes in the floor. Yes I can easily drill holes in the floor. The problem is these tracks are Very rusty. One won't move, and the spacers are shot.

I have two other sets of tracks from other cars I'm attempting to make fit. The problem I'm having is with seat height from the floor pan. One set of tracks (I think mid 80's Mustang) has the seat to high of the floor and the angle of the seat cushion is bad. I need to cut and weld the tracks for the correct height, no problem, I can weld and fabricate :)

The other set of tracks are generic tracks. These are to low to the floor. I need to space them up if used.

I need to know what the stock Maverick Comet GT seat track heights are so I can duplicate them. Does anyone know how far from the floor sheet metal the tracks need to be ? Let's just use the side closest to the rocker for measuring. I can level things and make spacers for the tunnel side .

Another "problem" is the drivers seat doesn't appear to be centered with the steering wheel if the seat tracks are positioned centered with the holes in the floor pan. Looks like the seat needs to go toward the tunnel an inch or so...

I paint and restore cars and never had such a problem getting seats to fit a car before...
This car came with a bench seat from what I can tell. Shouldn't be so difficult to put a couple buckets in it.... but it is ....

Please shed some insight on this seat track and placement dilemma .

The outer holes are the same for buckets & bench seats. If you look carefully at the floor, you'll see dimples in the metal where the inner bucket seat bracket mounting holes would have been drilled. Bucket seat cars, also had inner brackets (supports) welded to the floor pans, to level (along with the spacers) and add extra support.
Maverick/Comet bucket seat tracks are unique to Mavericks & Comets only.
I have a set of both LDO & Buckets, but I couldn't do any measuring until the weekend.
I'm pretty sure the LDO seat tracks, have the same footprint as the standard bucket seat tracks, they only sit lower to the floor.

    Yes, please do measure things.

    Yes, please do measure things.
I've been searching and reading for hours. I keep finding conflicting info and some guessing at the height dimensions, but no actual measurements. Very frustrating in deed ...
Also , with the set in the mid point front to back, how high is the front edge of the seat cushion (part under your knee) from the floor? I'll probably have to fab some brackets and I want to get the seat height right the first time :)>

    Thanks in advance.
