Well since im to broke to afford a trailer and im sure others maybe also.. So i came up with a solution....... When you want to go buy a maverick, you take the bumper off and screw in the tow bar to where the bumper mounts and you have the trailer hitch you mount it to the ballhitch and make sure the steering wheel isn't locked. This will make your maverick move right behind you and you wont even feel it pulling hard like a trailer will save you gas and keep life on your truck. I will have pictures later today with pictures of a maverick im gonna go pick up with it if anybody would be interested $200 a tow bar..
I don't know the difference between the front ends but my first one is for a 70-72 i am sure i will have to make them for different years.
really? I thought it was messy and a lot of work. So removing the bolts on both sides and pull the drive shaft, that's it? how do you keep oil pouring out of the tranny?
Idk im not the "mastermind" behind all of our projects my dad is he said the driveshaft was wasy to pull out and you had to tape something up.
Next one we make it will be adjustable to mount to the bumper it will mount to small bumpers then you adjust the clamp and it will mount to a big bumper..
I have a spare transmission yoke that I use when pulling engines with automatic transmissions. Probably work for towing too. Used tow dollies aren't that expensive either. Flat towing cars that have been parked for a long period of time need to be inspected. Tire condition and air pressure, wheel bearings, and stuck brakes to name a few. You will also need to rig up some brake and running lights for the towed vehicle.
You don't need to completely remove the drive shaft. Just disconnect it from the rear end (only 4 nuts), and use a strap to tie it up out of the way to the exhaust pipe or something. That's the way I always do it when I tow them on my dolly.
I found that a tow dolly was easier and don't have to pull anything off but the drive line and so wire and it is out of the way leave it in place just off to one side take brake drums off and you have a trailing axle
