http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3667290134&category=1319 I notice subtle changes in the production version. All marker lights were changed. Side body line was moved up to the center of the door. Rear Flipper window shape was modified. Grill and headlight bezels modified. Don't see a Gas Cap on the prototype ... Cool ...
The side scoop on the 4-dr reminds of some 70's era Japanese car but I can't figure out which one. I thought it was a Celica but no pics I have found show them on a 70's Celica ....
It does have the Japanese look and the first car that came to mind was the Datsun 510. This is the first time I ever see the the prototypes! It would be great to be able to talk with some of the people that were involved with the creation of the Maverick.
design I think the side windows on the two door look like a Pinto. And the lower character line looks like a '70 Torino. The body side styling on the 4 door reminds me of the early Mercury Capri.
Pretty cool to see the original concepts photos of both 2 and 4 door Mavericks. Thanks posting the pics guys.
I think it was Lee Iaccoca we can thank for picking the body style the finally did ... that thing is fugly!
I saw those on there the other day. Really cool stuff. dmhines- I've never seen that year Capri before. hmm...
