Is the clock in the console the same or similar to the ones used in 71-73 Mustang consoles? They look very similar to me, and if they fit, it would be a nice alternative for people who are missing the clock in their consoles. They would be easier to find also.

It is not the same - different part number. The Pinto uses the same clock according the the Ford Shop Manual ...

Is it not, the same, as in, it is not identical? Or is it different looking, but will fit? Not trying to say you're wrong, just wondering what's real different. Thanks.

No idea - just going by Ford part numbers ...

Cool, thanks. Maybe someone else has already tried this.

Very unlikely. If the hole is close to the same size you might be able to make it look good but I'd be really suprised if it bolted up.

I have a NOS clock I picked up at a swap meet for a console I have with clock delete (Steer head blockoff plate). I haven't decided which I'm going to go with yet, but I can take some pictures of the clock when I go home for xmas if you'd like.

Cool, thanks Charlie, but I don't know if I want the clock either. The reason I was asking was so maybe there would be other options avaliable for people who want a clock, but can't find one. At the moment, I don't have either, and I can't find any, so that was the premise on which I asked the question. If you decide to sell the delete plate, let me know, because I already have a clock in my radio. Thanks, Charlie.

I've tried that clock swap before & I coudn't make it work without cutting up the consolette. The clock face is a tick too large & it was impossible to mount with the existing consolette bracket. I'm sure anything can be made to work, but how much hacking do you want to do???

I don't want to trim, I just wanted to know if it would fit. Thanks anyway.
