after a few (stupid) mistakes the mav fired up and sounds great. 65-70 pounds oil pressure. might even put the mufflers on tomorrow. had to take the starter back off. plugs had to come out, muffler off, and header off to get the starter. 5 minute job now took 1 1/2 hours. tranny connection leaked took an hour to fix, mufflers off again and tranny xmember off. cheap me didn't change the thermostat. of course it stuck closed. water pump leaked, 5 minute fix but a big scare from the new $240 water pump. broke a plug wire. time for new ones i guess. need to do a few things for next saturday and sundays first 2 summit series race. at least i know i'll be ready. also need to figure how to mount the alternator. may just have to charge between rounds for the first 2 races. but it's coming together.
Three steps forward and two steps backwards is still progress. Keep it up and compete for that championship again.
what did you change that needed all the work... good luck this year... is this the year for a threepeat?
i just freshened up the engine. new rings and bearings, and a new oil pump. also changed to a meziere water pump and a summit high torque starter. 3peat, we'll see. i'd just be happy in the top 4.
Don, will you be racing in the Kragen Nationals at Firebird? I think the dates are Feb 23-25. I may be going out to watch and will look you up.
i'll probably go watch but i only bracket race. maybe when the time comes we can get together and say hi.
thay don't have bracket classes like we race on the weekend racing. they run classes like super street which is on a 10.90 index. also the stock classes run on a dial sorta like a bracket.
Don, back to your first post, can anyone say... OLD AGE? I expected something like that from Dennis, I forgot this and I forgot that, you get the idea. Really, I'm glad everything came together. Good luck this season! Eddie are you getting the idea on how this is done yet? You have to work on the car instead of sitting in the warm house. That way you can hear it running. Well I better follow my own advise and get to work. Have a great day! Terry
