Well I finally made it to the first test and tune for the Mav since it acquired the new 347 stroker.

Right off of the trailer I had a .001 lights 1.67 60 foot 7.515 1/8th 11.801 108.45 1/4 I hit the rev limiter and lifted at the end

    Second run was not quite as good of a light .076 red  1.68 60 foot 7.628 1/8 90.97 11.95 1/4 113 mph

Third run was better in ways but worse in others, car died when I started to do the burnout, got it going again and staged, stumbled on take off .401 light 1.705 60 foot 7.339 1/8th 94.24 11.55 1/4 115.60 mph

Fourth run was a wash as carb problem came back and got me all flustered and I screwed up just about anyway you could .709 light 1.89 60 foot 8.089 1/8 90.30mph 12.430 1/4 112 mph

Called it a day, taking another carb back tomorrow and try some more. I did have a couple issues but the biggest one is tranny is pushing fluid out the vent tube, not much and only at in third at top end.

No roll bar but maybe might have to consider or throttle stop the car as these runs were done with a pretty stout head wind and engine is tight might have to consider taller tires as well, crossing line at 6,700, shifting at 6,700.

All in all it has all been worth it, oh yeah got some air under the tires as well maybe an inch but never thought about it ever doing that. Foot braking it at 2,000 :drive:

As a side note I owe all of this to Woody (Jim) at Fordstrokers Jay Allen at Camshaft Innovations and Lenny at Ultimate converters for putting the package together cant forget PaulS for building the transmission and the biggest thanks of all to my wife (banker :)) for putting up with me through it all.

And I dont want to leave out all you guys and gals for sharing your knowledge and encouragement :Handshake

Gotta wish you all the best in your racing!

Mike, you do know that you don't need a roll bar until 11.49 or faster. Sounds like a nice car once you get the bugs worked out. Good luck. :)

Yeah I know Don, but with getting an 11.55 on the third run without the bugs all worked out it will just be a matter of time I will be crossing that bridge and I dont want to have to play games to keep it legal. I will probably run it this year the way it is and over the winter put a bar in it . I would feel safer with one anyhow not to mention how much they stiffen a car up :thumbs2:

I have got a lokar dipstick tube on the tranny and is really hard to read so I am going to change it back to a stock tube but best I can figure is it was too full, as the day progressed it didnt push as much fluid out so perhaps it had a little too much. Will check more into it after tomorrows race day is over.

High 11.30s to low 11.40s with good air, still have the timing set back a bit. I will be happy with 11.50s to 11.70s though
