Gageman brought his Maverick over today and we played in the garage with welders/grinders and new sub frame connectors. When all was said and done,it was a jolly Maverick day!!!Pics dont do this car justice. That candy green paint is sooo neat.
Chassis engineering I had to do some grinding and shapeing to get em nice and tight, but they came out pretty nice after all, mikes Mav is a sports car now!!
THose are nice ... I want to put a set on my Grabber ... but I don't want a set that can be seen unless you actually look under the car. Those seem to fit the bill. The guy that did my exhaust said he could weld subframe connectors on for me ... I just have to find a set that fits nice and tight like those. How much grinding did you have to do?
Mike is a great jack-man,I couldnt of placed those things so nicely all alone. Now If only I could get a roll of wire that doesnt have rust pits forming on it after 2 weeks on the machine.THAT was a pain in the butt!!!Must have played out 20 feet of it before I got something clean that wouldnt stop feeding half way into a bead. That rolls getting mailed back to the manufacturer with a nasty gram attached.
Not alot, just had to get the front edge contoured to match the end of the front rail. They were sitting a bit cattywumpus before hand.C/E guy musta been sleeping when he cut the ends of em.No biggie,3 minutes with a grinder cleaned them both up nicely.
Does he have dual exhaust on the car? Or is it just single? Would they fit inside the front frame rail if you cut it open? Do you have any pic's of the back where it ties in??
yea the car has duals on it.The tubing is the same size as the rail so you would have to open the rail up and spread it to get it inside. It would be stronger,we though about gusseting the ends after putting em in but,the car isnt going to see any hardcore action.I made sure I got ample penetration on the welds anywhoo.Mike called me after he got home and said nothing fell off...LOL.. so its all good.
Did he comment on whether or not he notices any difference? I had a 1984 Mustang GT convertible and I had SF connector welded in. The ride was like night and day .. solid and ALL the squeaks and rattles in the car were gone. But that was a convertible ...
Yes we went for a ride afterwards. It was an immediate and noticeable difference in ride stability and feel.
Thanks Ray!!!This color really has alot more depth than you can get out of a pic.Gageman(Mike) has a sweet ride.Darn thing really scoots too.
