Dale and I took a day off from our garage and went to a car show up in the Scranton/ Clarks summit area yesterday. The weather was just beautiful and there had to be at least 300 cars on the show field. Normally we have the only Maverick on the field, but we were happy to see another one in the show yesterday. It was a gold and silver 1976 Maverick. The minute I saw it I thought it looked familiar. I knew I had seen it somewhere before, but I just could'nt place where. It was after we got home that I made the connection. I pulled out last years calender and there it was! The car used to belong to Eric Wall from Forrest City Arizona. If I remember correctly, he put the car up on ebay a year or two ago, and now it's living in Pa. I never did see the car's new owner and I'll be darned if I can remember his name, but here's a few pics of the car.
Yeah, I don't like the wheels on it either. Thar car would look awesome with the right choice of wheels.
http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=17099&highlight=guitargunman I have no dog in that fight but here is the reason.
I had forgotten all about that incident. I had also forgotten what Eric Wall's user name was. It's almost kind of wierd how two years pass and the car shows up half way across the country.
I met Eric and bought some parts from him. He lives about 2 hours from my in-laws in Arkansas. When I met him and talked to him, I never imagined that he would pull the stunt he did, especially when you consider he is a computer genius and does the work for all Hilton Hotels' acquisitions computer systems to be able to talk to each other. He should have known better than to do what he did. You get stupid when you let rage take over.
I thought Eric did a great job with that car, and I think those are the cobra replica wheels. One of the best looking 2 tone jobs I have ever seen. I thought and still think Eric is a good guy.
i just read the thread that followed the other one after it was deleted... sounded like it got pretty nasty..
Yes, it did get pretty nasty. Like I said before, I could'nt remember who the original owner of the car was when I saw it, and I had forgotten all the bad blood that had gone on that got Guitargunman banned from the board. Sorry if my posting of his old car brought up any bad memories.:sorry: I will say this, he did one heck of a job on that Maverick. From what I saw of the car up close, it is a nice looking car. I don't know if the car won anything in it's class, which was Modified & Customs. The car was gone before the show ended. On a happier note, my Maverick did win first place in it's class, which was 1976 to 1983 Stock. There were 10 cars in my class of all makes and models. The show was an AACA judged show, so the judges were pretty darn picky. We know one of the judges from years ago. He did not judge our class, but afterward he came up to us and told us that out of a top score of 100 points, my Maverick came in with 98 points. I thought that was pretty cool.
