Anyone have any experience with this style riv-nut? My local Mustang vendor only stock this style. I will have to drill a 3/8" holes to install. They look like they will crush easier. I just don't know if I want to use this or try and find something that looks more correct...I'm hanging a mirror on my car door...not a picture on the wall.

They don't look like anything I would use. Maybe someone has some experience to prove otherwise, but they don't look very good to me.

I'd be leary of those too. The mirrors have quite a bit of weight after a while and I'd be afraid that wouldn't hold up. The correct riv-nuts are pretty heavy duty. I've used that type before installing bug shields on hoods and they just seem mighty cheap to me.

Thanks guys. You confirmed my suspicion. Not only the weight of the mirror had my concern, the vibration along with the thin wall constrution being bent after compressed looked like a weak point. I'm heading to Fastenal and look for the real thing.

I'm going to try to get my mirrors on today...If I strike out finding the riv-nuts I will take you up on your offer.

Jeff; if you find a good rivnut, pick me up a few (4) to replace the ones on my mirrors. They are like the one in the pic, and the mirrors rattle and move around.
    Thanks, and let me know.

Earl, I let you know right now you don't want no part of the rivnut in the picture above. I just got off the phone with NPD and ordered 2 kits of part number 17696-4AK The parts should be here Friday and it cost me $14.00 after shipping.

The aftermarket kit I got is a joke and doesn't fit. The screw heads are too big and the mirror doesn't hide the rivnut.
