Just thought I would put this out for anybody that has some really ugly old seats and might be thinking the only option is to recover them. I just cleaned the seats that I pulled from a 70 that was in the junkyard for about 10 years or so, judging by the trees that were sprouting up between the bumpers. These were really some ugly looking seats from all the years of dirt.

The back seat was literally covered in about a 1/4" of moss and dust. First thing I did with them is wash them with a mild soap and a couple capfulls of bleach to kill any moss spores. Use only a little bleach as it is not a good thing in large quantities on anything. Then I let them dry in the shade really good. Next I used a good cleaner / conditioner made for vinyl. The trick is to keep changing to a new rag after every spray down and wipe off. Keep cleaning them again and again until the rag stays clean and no more dirt is being lifted from the vinyl. Pay close attention to the seems to get the dirt out and conditioner into the threads and seems. After about a 1/2 dozen spray and wipe cleanings, they came out very well. I will clean them again before installing them into the car when the time comes.

First picture shows the difference from side to side after about 3 cleanings. Second shows the finished seat.

PS: - I didn't take a picture of them covered in dirt and moss, I wish I had. That first picture shows, on the right side, what was left stained onto the seat under the moss.

Nice job getting that seat cleaned up. That has to be the scuzziest seat I've ever seen. Kinda of like sitting on a Chia pet.:)

Don't all living rooms have car parts in them? I've pretty well convinced my wife that they do! :D

Of course living rooms have car parts in them. It's the mans way of decorating, showing his passion for cars.....That's what I told my wife anyway. It worked......LOL
