Has anyone used these Moog 369 u-joints? I have a '69 1/2 (70) stock Maverick that needs new u-joints. I bought these as replacements. I've destroyed one in the process. the 369 u-joint seems too large. it nearly fits but seems several tho out of spec. close but not prefect.
If you have a pair of calipers check if the yoke is still round. Sometimes they get distorted and have to be honed slightly.
so here's an update...I measured the moog u-joint. with the bearing caps on, It sized in @ 3.2220. With a pair of calipers I measured, on the yoke, the distance between the C-clips @ 3.2445 minus the thickness of the one C-clip (.0565) equals 3.1880. I checked to make sure the C-clips were fully seated and at their max distance from each other. Yup... 0.0340. So what do I do? I don't own a lathe so I can't turn down the bearing caps... I know! I'll sand down the C-clips. that I can do. The C-clips measured in @ .0565. I have 2" 100 grit roll that's made for a board sander. I tore two pieces about a foot long and my son and I got to work. we slowly worked the C-clips down to .0445 each, or damn near. It worked. My son helping made the most difference. An extra set of hands made the job much easier. Also because I was working slower so I could explain to my son what we were doing I noticed a burr on the inside edge of the yoke bearing seat I had not noticed before.
