Got the LDO dash trim installed. Put the new shallow mount speakers in with factory front speaker kick panels. The picture with the bench is a before shot ...
Good upgrade. I like it. I take it you took the dash out? How hard was it to take out with the windshield in? Those top screws would be a bitch. I have only taken the dash out with the windshield out first.
If you look at the corners of the dash you will see it is actually a 74 dash with an early tray. The early dashes actually rounded at the corners to meet the tray. For all the effort required it wasn't worth it to switch the dash ... only a die-hard Maverick fanatic would notice ... I wonder if removing the glove box in a late model car is actually an upgrade or a downgrade?
Dan What size speakers are you using with the current kick panels? Which size speakers did you have with the old kick panels?
5 1/4 speakers both times. The original speakers I bought were standard depth .. there was no way to mount them behind the kickpanels because there was no room for the cone and magnet. I bought a another set of 5 1/4's specifically made for shallow mounting. I think they are only like 1 1/2 inches deep ... the regular speakers were probably like 4 inches.
I went with 4" speakers because it looked like the 5 1/4 would not fit. What brand and model did you get for the shallow mounting. I guess I need to find a set of kick panels with the grills like you did.
Here are the speakers I used. I am not using an AMP - just a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP Head Unit connected directly to the front and rear speakers ... they sound just fine to me ... http://www.brilliant-electronics.com/car_speakers_pyramid_526dc.htm
"That's why I am hesitant to actually fix all the dings and scratches!" didn't you just get a new "hood" to get rid of some "dings and scratches"? ...frank...
