more mav goodies and all buffed out

    got to go to a swap meet sunday and picked up a couple of things for the maverick.a nice new grant steering wheel and a nice big trans cooler.also finished buffing out the mav.also my welder was over to get measurments for the frame connectors.i have to do them before i put the cage in.

    you wanna know what sucks though? the adapter to run that wheel cost as much as the steering wheel! might wanna find a used one or check ebay(y). last time i got one for $3! the first time i bought a new adapter it was around $20:mad:

    Fun! Nothing like getting some new parts!!! :dancing: Are you gonna repaint the car eventually? from the pictures it looks pretty nice. It would be cool to be able to tell people its the original purple (y)

    just went to advanced auto parts and got an adapter for 3 dollars new summit wanted 17 dollars but the kid at advanced said the one i got was discontinued so i got it 75 % off what a deal.

    up close it doesn't look so great but at 20 feet it looks awsome so i will leave it alone for now but will paint it in the near future. besides it will be neat to tell people its the original paint.

    Lookin good. Now go drive it.:)

    Word to the wise on that wheel. See if it had the crappy thin wires under the horn button. If it has the same little black wires mine did watch it. Mine rubbed through on the spring and shorted out. As luck would have it I happened to be sitting in the car when smoke started pouring out of the wheel. I ripped the horn button off and the wire was melted to the spring. Scared the crap out of me so the wheel went in the garbage for a factory wheel. And people wonder why I have a battery disconnect when its parked. My horn now runs off a relay and the switch only grounds the relay.

    thanks darren for the heads up on the wheel if it does have the cheap wires i will replace them or not use them at all and put a button on my switch panel.and as far as go drive it i wish i could but im about a month or so away from that got to put the cage in first then the carpet,seats and shifter.them i can drive it.

    I have the same steering wheel and it rocks. Looks pretty good and feels nice.
