Here is a alternative for people who have trouble finding disc brakes for your drum equiped maverick or comet. You can use spindles from any mid sized car from 72 to 79. Torino, montego,tbird,cougar,ltd2, elite or ranchero. You will find that the spindles will appear much beefier than stock maverick. All the mounting points will be in the correct location dont worry. The upper ball joint and tie rod joint will be the same hole size and thickness so no modification. The lower ball joint area is the only place you will have to modify. The hole and the thickness is different so you need to make the thickness the same as the original spindle otherwise your ball joint will not make it all the way through. I used a mill on mine but there is no reason you cant use a grinder to cut away what you dont need. Dont take off too much! too little is better than to much! BE SURE TO TAKE IT FROM THE TOP SIDE. Otherwise you will run into a problem with the control arm on bottom hitting the casting of the spindle. For the hole size you can buy a ball joint reducer bushing. I had a machinist do a strait bore then make a tapered bushing. Then he cut around the sides of the hole around the bushing welded it and flaten the surface so it looks like it was casted that way. My machinest was free so I would suggest buying the ball joint reducer bushing. Then simple install use brake parts for the mid size car that you took the parts from. Any q's post or email me.. good luck!
