I have a 76 Comet with a 302. Anyone know where to get some nice engine mounts? I don't know if there just aren't many options, or I just need to know what mounts fit across. I know almost all my suspension parts are the same as a 68-72.5 Mustang, but I'm not sure about the engine mounts. Do you guys know what fits and where to get it?
So apparently I'm an underprivileged Canadian and these part stores aren't having much luck finding me anything. So far most places have no listing. One place is bringing one side in next week, but even if it's right I need a whole pair. The Classic Mustang guy I get my suspension parts from only has the 72 mustang ones which look similar, but are higher and have different hole spacing to the lower bracket. One last place to check in town. Most of the ones I see online are the cheap ones that don't have the stock safety bolt in them, and I'd like to avoid putting the motor through the hood later down the road.
Don't worry, Americans don't realize that what exsits in America, might not exist in another country. Where in Canada are you? NAPA is always a good choice for parts, Canadian Tire, and Parts Source suck.
Where in Canada are you? If you're close to the border, there must be a place you could have on-line purchases shipped to? The mounts are the same on both sides, I believe. Rock Auto shows two different brands ($9-$13 USD), but none with the through-bolt. I believe there was a tech article about installing a safety bolt on your own. Auto Krafters also sell the mounts and are $25 USD, and appear to have the rivet/bolt. Melvin's Classic Fords may also carry the part, but I did not see them in their on-line catalogue. The Maverick/Comet V8 mounts are specific to our cars, and do not cross-reference with any other model.
Napa only had the mustang ones. He looked through a bunch of listings. Just placed an order with RockAuto. Guess I'll have to fix everything but the mount this weekend
I HATE that. Whenever that happens, it turns into taking 5 times as long because I have to get back around to the project I couldn't finish because I started another one. Don't feel bad, even in the US if you live in a not so rednecky area it's hard as balls to find parts for cars that aren't Camaros or mustangs.
