I bought a rear spoiler for my '72 Maverick a while back, and I'm getting ready to mount it. The car didn't originally have a spoiler so I had to drill through the deck lid. That part was easy. Now i need to fasten it down, but there is nothing for the nut to push against. Someone told me i needed to make a bracket out of aluminium, but i'm not really sure what they ment. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You can also make them out of pvc conduit 3/4 inch diameter, grind end that goes inside of trunklid to match angle of area around hole that you drilled and then cut it to length so that you have some thread to fasten nut to and use a 1/4 x 1 1/4 inch fender washer . I did this on my carbon fiber spoiler and has been on for a couple years with no problems, cheap and rust free

    That's a great idea!
