I replaced the rear in my 70' Mav(upgraded to 8") over 5 Years ago. Never put the shocks back on mainly because I was'nt going to drive the Mav until I completed the rest of the work. Well the time has come to install the shocks and I purchased a pair of KYBs from Summit. They seem to be on a very steep unusual angle, I cannot remember how they looked before,I thought I may have insalled the mounting plates incorrectly when I put the rear back together ?? I have searched for pictures or past articles with out success. Any help please.:16suspect

Of course...I am assuming you have the staggered lower plates that came on 1971-1977 Mavericks. 1970 Mavericks did not have staggered shocks.

I have the 70' Maverick so both shocks should mount the same and in front of the rear if I'm not mistaken, It just seems they are on an unusual angle. here is one picture, but it is hard to see what my concern is at this angle. I'll get better pictures tommorow and post them at this thread.By the way, thats one clean underbody,Wow !!

Are you using the '70 shock mounts or the ones that came with the 8-inch rear?...

The nut and washer are on there, just can't see them at that angle. I believe the problem is I have the mounting brackets on the wrong side of the car and sideways! Oh yes its possible! When I put everything back together I must have been pretty confident I had them right and never looked back. I never realized until I started researching this that the 70' Mavericks(like mine) rear shocks mounted differently than 71' - 77'. So I stated wondering(like T.L. asked) what brackets I used. The original set or the set that were on the newer 8" rear? Well,I could'nt remember. So I got a set from the yard this morning off of a 70' Maverick.Brought them home and held them under there every wich way and realized I have the right brackets. Just mounted them wrong.:D So guess what I'm doing tonight.
