ok so, the previous owner of my 73 had their muffler in front of the axle with the pipe going over it and coming out the side behind the rear tire. i like this look better. that being said, the new muffler i got - just the standard replacement Defender muffler from autozone (for now till i upgrade when the rest of the car is done) - seems it would fit in that location. question is: what can i do to have the best sound, with some decent amount of volume with a stock l6 and basic muffler? i've read that the further in front of the axle the muffler is, the louder the sound?
gettin a I6 to soud good with just a muffler alone has been a big challenge. turbo mufflers seem to be the best choice but dont IMO , live up to the hype. im running an open pipe all they way out the back on my 72 I6, no muffler. sounds almost like a ricer but really good at idle. im thinking a glass pack all the way up front is my plan
