KEWL!!! Edit works, I'll upload additional picts soon... My 1972 Comet GT Clone Since I've been posting pict here & there, figured it was time for the little gal to have her own thread... Pict from '09 no doubt a major ugly duckling, would have never bought it looking like this... Last year when I bought it, outwardly it hasn't changed, still needs stripe kit but will have to wait till next year... While she'd been treated to new interior, a great paint job with trim removed, new glass, etc the engine compartment was a total mess... Yes it was complete(don't seem to have a pict before dissemble) and ran OK... I removed front accessories to repl the water pump, then it snowballed... I've removed almost everything possible then cleaned and painted complete engine bay.
My 1972 Comet GT Clone More pict... All of the front suspension and power steering will be rebuilt also installing '69 Torino front disc brakes... Steering sector in above pict has been detailed, relubed and preload set... Inside of shock towers still needs attention, but has almost zero rust... Brian bought car from seller in AL, sold new in Tupelo MS.
Appreciate the thumbs up... For the hood ornament, I kinda doubt it, want to see how it looks with everything else completed first...
Pict of fresh 306 a couple minutes prior to breathing first breath... Has a set of Pro-Comp heads(on engine when I bought it), Weiand 8020 intake and the smallest Lunati Voodoo cam offered for a Ford smallblock... Will also have a set of Doug Thorley headers when installed... First try at starting... Oops someone forgot to tighten nut on alternator shaft(yeah me)... Falls off and lands just under center of radiator... http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/xxAMxx/media/Comet/firststart_zpsc98b63d9.mp4.html Second try... http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/xxAMxx/media/Comet/secondtry_zpsb302136d.mp4.html
Thanks guys... Engine sounds 1000x better in person vs the audio on camera... I would have liked to gotten farther back from it but it was raining fairly steady & if I'd gotten the wife's new camera wet, I wouldn't be here to post a video... Normally it would have been outside when running... Other than a slight weep at the fuel pump outlet, she went through the 20 min initial break in just fine, oil pressure was 45psi at 2K RPM and water temp was steady at 190*(there's a electric puller fan on the front side of the radiator)... I should have the engine compartment finished this weekend, so will install the front suspension and hopefully drop it in the hole sometime next week...
Thanks Crazy... Today I've been cleaning, painting and sortin' parts... I sure hope someone knows where this stuff goes... Another box of goodies... More stuff... Got some brakes someplace...
Hi Tom,I`ve got a 9in detroit locker rear w` a new 3.89 gear in it,w` 31 spline axles that will hook you right up if you are interested. The only thing it does not have is drums & backing plates. This rear came from under a big blk Cougar and will bolt right in,no mods necessary, pumpkin is heavy duty N case. Also have a set of Lakewood traction bars, the good ones that your U-bolts going over the rear bolt in to,I`ve had it for 30 yrs & now I don`t need it.
Hey Dan, that gear would be perfect for a AOD... PM me with come contact info & I'll come take a look at it... Sounds like you've had stuff laying around as long as I have, I still have parts from the late '70s...
