Such cool cars. When I was growing up, they were so common in my neighbourhood , since everyone worked at Talboville...seems like a long time ago.
I really liked the one I had, it was a 79 that I paid way too much for. I gave my brother $500 for it and it didn't run, we'll call it charity I suppose, he was broke with a new born and couldn't afford much of anything. The cat was clogged and the intake ports were nearly sealed off from cooked oil. I rebuilt it, shaved the head for more compression and had a Comp 280 cam in it. Only thing it needed was a set of gears and a locker.
Good memories. In the early 80's I had a 72 Grabber Blue wagon like the one on the right. Took off the roof rack, removed the rear side windows and welded in sheet metal panels. I bought some port hole windows to put in but never got around to it. I still have them. Pulled the 289, TopLoader 4-speed, and 8" rear from the Mav and put them in the wagon. Big snorkel hood scoop and really loud side pipes. A lot of fun.
I see now. Still was a lot of fun, especially when the guys with the 4-cylinder Shelby Daytonas tried to run me. Too funny.
my kids played in the trunk of our 72 pinto wagon with wood paneling no less bought it from another soldier in germany ...many autobahn trips ....no kid seats no belts...luckily never a bump or a scratch
