    Does reverse work?
I ask because the same clutch controls high and reverse. That clutch (the hi/rev or direct) only works when in reverse or third. If reverse is working then it isn't the direct clutch.

If it is a manual tranny.....it is more than likely a syncronizer

Try adjusting the front band first. Tighten it down to 10 Ft Lbs and then back it off 1 1/2 turns and lock the nut while holding your adjustment. Make sure the oil is filled half way between add and full. Test it and see if that fixes it.

Your direct clutches are working because that is what works with the rear servo to make it go in reverse. The forward clutch is working because you have 1st and 2nd. High gear is what happens when the forward and the direct clutches are both engaged. If the front band is out of adjustment it will let the engine "flare" (speed up like it is in neutral) and sometimes it seems like forever before it will grab 3rd. Sometimes it won't. Adjusting the band is the only thing you can do short of an overhaul to fix the problem.
    Let us know ok?

Does anyone in or near Marietta, Georgia build a good C4?
If not you couldn't go wrong with a C4 from Broader Performance.Their service is great. Call and talk to them so you get a transmission that will handle the engine you have. Follow their instructions on installation and servicing.
