I would like to have a race motor but I don't see it happening for a while. I will be trading so and so forth. here is the plan
    93 5.0 longblock from a gt mustang
    B303 cam
    1.7 roller rockers
    performer rpm intake
    hooker 6901 headers
    3500 stall
4.62 gears. maybe a little much but thats what I have.
    26x10 et drags
I am hoping to run low 8's in the 1/8 mile. I have went over the racing and timeslip sections a million times and think it will run low 8's but figured I would get some opinions

The previous owner ran low 8's with my car, and the setup was similar to yours except it wasn't a roller block and it had Victor Jr. heads on it. And he was runnin 4.62 gears and slicks. So I think it might be doable, but I'm no expert. I think the factory heads may be your limiting factor.

    My 4dr ran 8.79 with a similiar combo;
    roller 302
    B303 cam
    Weiand Stealth
    700 dp holley
    stock rockers
hedman 88300s w/ 2.25" duals into Dynomax super turbo 2s turned down at the rear
    3500 stall
    ported E7 heads/decked .020
    3.55 rear
    26x10.5 ET Streets
car weighed 3350 with driver. If you don't do any head work you'll probably go 8.4-8.5 depending on what your car weighs. BTW, it ran the same with a borrowed 4.62 gear.;)

My heads were pretty much gasket matched on the exhaust side, effectively removing the bump. With no other changes the porting alone took it from a best of 9.05 (w/stock E7s) to 8.79.

A dirt tracker once told me he seen 10-15 h/p from removing them how true that is or isnt I couldn't say But ive always ground them out there a big restriction in the exhaust ports which is already a weak area in a SBF head.

The first engine i built was a 310 inch motor with stock heads and a m6250a312 motorsport hyd cam. Ran a 8.12 with a 4.11 and cheap converter ans 28 inch tires. All i did was balance the assembly and do just a bit of port work to the heads. Still used the stock valves.

Hello nice idea.I have a suggestion. If you are limited to use what you have,ok.But you can port your heads by yourself.Pay attention to the area under the valve and do a port match on intake and exhaust.I would recommend a cam change.I have used the Lunati super stock cam before, with very very very good results. It has stock lift but duration in the 240 at 50 range. The lobe separation is 110.It will destroy the B X E cams. You can use any cam from any company that makes for this type of class racing. But you have to ask for it.Remamber these cams were desinged for running with all stock and unported parts.Think about it.

I think he's just wanting to run what he's been able to pick up cheap/trade for.

Thats what I am going for. I think it will end up being a flat tappet cam since the roller motor fell through. I did get a set of e7 heads for free
