So i finally fixed the overheating ( got lucky and found a shroud in the trunk at a junk yard) so i went to drive it around and make sure. everything was fine. i stopped to get something to eat and when i went back to turn the key. there was no power whatsoever. so i figured all i needed was a jump. jump did nothing so i tested the battery and it has charge but there is absolutely no power. Someone came and we turned the car over by jumping a wire from the solenoid to the battery and the motor cranked over fine but it didn't even try to start, like there's no power at the coil either. Can anyone help?
there is a fuse link inside the car for the coil circuit. you'll need to check it with a test light to be sure. It comes out of the ignition switch as a red with green tracer, goes thru a maroon resistor wire, and out to the coil as a red/grn tracer. You can use a fused jumper wire to the coil(unhook the red/grn from the coil) from battery positive and crank it over to see if it starts. one other thing to look at is the neutral switch if it doesn't turn over at all. do the warning indicators light up with the key on? hope this helps, good luck
Check the yellow power feed to the ignition switch. Almost sounds like you have no power going to the inside of the car. look at the fuse links on the solenoid(starter relay) where they go into the main wiring loom. It might be worth taking the eyelets loose and give them a tug to see if the fuse links are burned through. you should have one main power feed to the inside of the car, and another for the alternator. There may be others, I'm at work so I can't look up much. we're websensed. If the power feed to the switch is good and you have no power coming out on the red/grn(ign coil feed), blk/grn(accessory feed), you might have a bad switch. If the fuse links are open, check for a short before connecting power after repairing it. (circuit breakers are great for diagnosis)
