Today I was at a swap meet in kansas City (with my dad) when I started to complain that In the entire Meet I did not find one 302 for my 71 mav, (except one that was already in a 70 mustang fully restored), when my dad turned to me and told me that I should give up on the Maverick and just get a Mustang!!!! Out of shock and disbelief I told him that he just wishes his 65 galaxy 500 XL was as cool as my maverick and could get half as many chicks. So to compensate for the slander he bought me a 71 Kansas Liscense plate to put on my car. p.s. If anyone has a 302 for sale I am interested!!!!
I find it incredulous that the ford 302 is becoming hard to find. Me thinks you are hunting in the wrong area. Go to a boneyard young man. Dan
I found a 74 comet, I think it was, that had a 302 in it, at a salvage yard. The guy said 300 for it but I decided I should look around a bit first for 3 reasons. One the comet used to be a derby car and probably has been rid real hard. two the carbureator and intake manifold was disassembled. And three, that was a week after I got my car and the only nibble I had gotten so I wanted to shop around a bit more, especially when I knew I had a friend with an old 68 mustang gt that he might be willing to part with.
I"d trade every Maverick I have (except the Sprint) for that 65 XL. When I had the money together for my Sprint's restoration, I almost bought one of those instead. At least he didnt tell you to get one of those "C" word cars.
its hard to be the ford man in chevy town. if you needed a 350 youd have people begging you to buy them. mike
