Customized a 29"x 18" aluminum racing radiator to fit. But the temp does the same thing. Gradually goes to 220+ at idle.

I don't have a shroud so I'm sure thats the problem. I think I will go with electric fans. Anyone have any luck with them? Any suggested brands?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Oh ya, the 410 did the same thing with stock rad/shroud.

    Weird..

I have my best luck with a factory 3 core rad. and a seven blade fan with shroud

Do you have a 351w stroker crammed into the engine bay?

Well I think I'll try electric fans for the hell of it... I already have a seven blade fan BTW.. 195 would be perfect.

I think my high-compression, starter smashing beast just needs some monster fans...:yup:

Does it run hot while driving down the road? If not then it is an airflow problem. Electric fans will be fine. Try to find one with a shroud to maximize core coverage. Don't forget to run the fan through a relay.

If you go electric do the taurus one. Jay "mavdog71" was running one in LA when it was super hot out (90 plus) and running his ac while sitting idling for a good twenty min. it only kicked into high once or twice. and it stays around 180. also sounds like it was staying 180 through vegas even though his poor trans got hot. i put aftermarket dual electrics on my truck at supposedly three times the CFM it had from the stock fan and can barely keep it in range when its 90 out. thinking of adding another fan and wrapping the headers just for heat control...

Not knowing your setup...do you think the lower radiator hose is collapsing and restricting flow?
