Just bought a new (for me) 72 maverick with a 200 I6. I have no clue where to start, the battery is shot, so I was thinking I could start with that, replace the battery and see if i could get it running, I'm going to pick it up tomorrow, it has some minor imperfections that i wasn't sure how to go about fixing. I was gonna start off with a wash, but now im just not sure. Any suggestions?
This is my first restoration so im not really sure where to begin. Will post pictures soon.

Well it looks like a decent start, I saw it on craiglist and looked like a good deal for the money. How long has it been sitting?

You will probably want to give it some fresh gas and check the points out.

Good luck with your new score

    Not a Stallion,Not a Grabber, It's a STABBER ( hence knife point hood )
Looks like a GREAT car to start with . When I have friends new to the hobby I always remind them " RUN SHE MAY ...STOP SHE MUST " So if you plan to drive this Mav as you fix her up I advise going through the brake system ,master cylinder , brake lines brake cylinder , pads ect... The sad part is this is not the COOL stuff but it will let you live to play another day......GOOD LUCK IT'S COOL CAR

battery's charged, brake lights work, turn signals work, no headlights or windshield wipers, won't turn over. Could there be a blown fuse? Is there a way to short solenoid? Its been sitting since 2006ish so i am gonna give it some fresh gas. any trouble shooting help on getting it running?

Gave it a good wash, sanded it smooth with a long block and 320 grit sand paper, masked off and primed the front right fender and the trunk lid.
