i know most people are finished already but we had our last race of the year here. so i guess winter is officially here in az. it was 92 at the track yesterday. and our first race of the new year is less than 3 weeks away. ha-ha.:bananaman
we had about 60 cars in the class, including a dragster, and 9 second super gas cars (w/o electronics). the maverick ran great. best et of the day was a 12.02 which was a new best for me. last one was a 12.05 at ffw. last month. i lasted to 3 cars, then lost on a double breakout. had a lot of fun. can't wait for the next years point series to start (jan 16). :)

Good job Don, we are supposed to have our first "special" race on Jan 2nd. Must be at least 45 degree's though. 4000 pay out in pro/superpro class. Have run these before and believe me it is still cold here in Arkansas, with a new engine and such, makes me a bit skittish to say the least. May try to just get in some soft time trials, and mybe the temp will get up there, and then hammer it. Lost the last 331 last year in TNT in Feb. because of high oil pressure blowing out a galley plug( bad oil pump out of the box). When it is cold the whole car is like a piece of steel in dry ice, snap, crackle, pop.

It was a little nippy here in Houston over the weekend, but because of all the rain last weekend, the racers were out in force on Saturday night.

I counted exactly 50 cars in the staging lanes. More than a hundred couldn't get out of their pits when called to the lanes because of the crowd.

    Non-stop, back-to-back racing is (y)

2 out of 3 of our tracks are pretty safe. tucson is at the county fairgrounds alongside a motocross track, model airplane field, and of course the county fairgrounds. also next door is the nascar oval track. firebird in phoenix is next to I-10 and is on the indian reservation. the third has got some development not too far away.:)

We just lost Carlsbad Raceway, which is only a few miles from me. It apparently was a pretty cool track back in the 60's and 70's. Can't stop building houses out here in Cali by the beach. At least there are still quite a few 1/8 mile tracks thanks to all the ricers and street racers.

Congrats Don on the new best time.

I have been wanting to go to Barona and I'm going to check it out asap, probably after the holidays. I'll let ya know how it is. I've heard it is pretty nice.

The 1/8-mile is ok and is still lots of fun, but I still like the 1/4 better because you get the cool feeling of launch and the cool feeling of going really fast. 1/8th mile you get the launch but you have to let off just when you start to really get going.

Congrats Don.......I agree with Erick about the difference between 1/8 and 1/4. The 1/8 is fun and thats about all we have around here.....but I will drive 1 1/2 hours or so to run the 1/4 once a month.
