I really feel like in the coming years the Mav will see a substaintial increase in value. Eventhough there were so many made, you guys know that alot are being destroyed. It stands to reason that those of us who save them, will be glad later on...But I have to say that my Mav ...eventhough it is no where near done, is priceless...I have a 7 year old son who loves it and has already staked his claim on it when he is old enough...We got him a tool set for Christmas and everytime I work on my car, he helps...He is kinda a little guy for his age, but he still totes that heavy tool box out to the car for me...Its so sweet.. My Dad owned a bodyshop when I was a little girl and he worked as a mechanic the rest of the time(he never had a son)...hubby is not an actual mechanic, but does all of our work for us and especially great with Fords...so this is a natural thing that we want to teach our son...He and I are learning together!
that is GREAT....my oldest son has also told me to never seel my mav and he wants it...i thought about it..but if i give it to him (he is 13 now) i will need to teach him how to take it easy....it is very easy to get a little excited in my mav..i do it from time to time.... lol my youngest doesnt like helping and my wife hates helping me....
Well, I have to say that I was already planning on giving it to him, but when I read Jamie's story about his Dads car, I realized how much something like this could mean to my son in years to come...Jamie, if you read this, I am sorry about your Dads car, but who knows, it may end up back with you one day!
Sounds like a plan. I dont have any sons and my daughters think cars are just transportation (hey, I tried) so I'm hoping one of my grandkids really get into cars. I'd really like mine to stay in the family but only if they can appreciate it like I do.
The values are slowing creeping up along with everything else. There were two Mavs in Hemming's recently that were going for a LOT of $$. I'd be surprised if the owners got what they were asking, but for them to even be offered for 5 digit amounts is encouraging. The Grabbers, Stallions, and Sprints are still the most desirable and get the most money, but the rest are still heading up. This is a spinoff of the explosion of the more "desirable" car prices in the market since they have been offered as investments after the stock market crapped right after 9-11. Of course, the increase in real hobbiests buying more cars and more newbies getting into the hobby has helped the prices, also. Is it good or not? You decide.
Yeah, my sons thought they were gonna get mine and I had originally planned on giving my Grabber Green car up. When my oldest son turned 15 and started asking for it I decided it was time to go shopping. I just couldn't give my high school car up...too many fun memories. That's when the Red car appeared so I had to build that one all the way. About five years later it started happening again. EBay saved me that time with the Yellow Grabber. Of course I had another full restoration to do. Thank goodness I only had two kids. Now I finally get to play with mine again. Along came the Blue car I'm in now but next I have to go back through my Green one and freshen up everything on it. Oh well...ya gotta love it!!!
My youngest daughter (21) loves my Comet. Out of 5 kids (3 boys & 2 girls) she is the only one, that shows any interest. The rest of them don't get it. Looks like I'll have to will to her....At least it will stay in the family...
