My New GRABBER Taillight Prototypes

    Hunting season ended and it was too early for snowmobiling, so getting a little bored, I went into the shop and created a set of taillights for my Grabber project. They are not quite done yet. I still need to make a wiring harness and final sanding and finish coats on the trim mouldings.

    Being an old Cougar guy, I knew my car HAD to have a triple bulb sequential system. I looked very hard at what other people have done and came up with some possibilities. I did not want that "stuck onto" the back look but also didn't want to carve up the rear tail panel too much. I like the simple design of the stock tailights but I just had to make it my own. I had a box full of old beat-up taillights that came from junk yard pulls and parts cars, so I had a good supply of parts to work with.

    So here it is! It will fill the rear tail panel out across the entire back, leaving about 2 inches in each side of the gas cap. One thing I didn't know when starting this project, was just how much of a taper there is to the stock trim bezel. That was a problem and caused MUCH labor time for me trying to get it to look right. Overall, I'm very pleased with what I came up with! :clap:

    I have not seen anyone else with this design, I think I'm the 1st, so if anyone copies this design you can name it after me !! :biglaugh:

    It's definitely unique. I dare say, unless you go into production, those will be a one-off set of tail lights.:tiphat:

    Looks great!!!!!!!!! Definately want to see them mounted and in action. How did you attach the bright trim together? I tried to use a Tig on them once when I was playing with my cyclops idea, but couldnt do anything with it.

    Those look fantastic. Non-Maverick people will think they are factory.

    The only thing I would ad would probably be another set of mounting studs in the middle to help aid in stability when mounted to the car.
