Wow....around here a car sitting since 1997 would be mostly earth by now.

Yea that's what I expected when I went to look at it. Has one spot in floor pan a little rust on passenger door and passenger side quarter panel. A tree fell on it during a ice storm. That's what happened to the fender. But all in all a solid start.

'Looks like it has a lot of potential. If the cowl isn't rusted (at least not too badly), I'd convert it to smaller bumpers and convert the interior to black.

Rust isn't bad anywhere that I've found so far. Interior is already stripped. I have black bucket seats in it. Found a new molded carpet on ebay in black cheap. Need back seats and trim. Want to go stick shift. But a auto car so undecided.

Finally got a chance to pull fender Sunday. Didn't find any damage or major rust. Just have to change fender. Got a small bumper for the rear. Good shape, just needs rechromed.. hope to get body work done this week. Start on motor and tranny install...

Pour a gallon of water down the vents in the cowl in front of the windshield and make sure the water drains out the ends of the cowl and not on your floor - wet floor means cowl repairs :)

Ok I did the water test. Plus raining nonstop here. I'm getting a little water on driver's floor. Guess that's why I have rust in this floor pan. Seen in some pist I have to cut cowl cover off. Do I split seams or cut above? Weld back in? Do I have to replace cowl pan ? Or can repair? Probably won't know till I get it open... we'll see soon enough.

Ok guys. I've read a few post. Seen a few pics. I don't think mine can be bad because raining and I used a water hose to test for leaks. Did get water in floor. Just not a lot. I've got the fender off already. Think I'll cut a hole in the side and do a visual inspection. If rusted will definitely repair. No filler or fiberglass. I'm going to retest after work get pics of water tracks and amount.. any ideas?? Could my leak be elsewhere?

You've got some rust, you just can't see it yet..judging from those pictures.

Looks like a pretty nice Grabber hood on the car.

Hey guys. Haven't gotten the cowl opened yet. Got stuck working all weekend. So been searching the forum and internet for info and ideas. As I stated in the newbie section,I want to use a 4.6 sohc and tranny out of a 95 crown vic. I have the complete running car as donor. I've seen the mustang front end used,a even newer crown vic front modified to fit and straight axle assembly. I need lots of room under the hood. If I remember correctly the 302 is 18 3/4" wide and 4.6 is 28 5/8. I'm looking for info on people ideas for front end, experience,do's and don'ts. I researching best way to go. Also did maverick ever come with a big block? How did it fit??? Thanks guys

You will need to lose the shock towers and a Mustang II front end conversion is the easiest and most parts available way to go. I went that route and have a ton of room for my Cleveland. You don't have to go as extreme as I did with my car removing everything up front because I was going to cage my car anyway. No Maverick ever came from the factory with a big block. The best that you could order in any year was a 302 with a 2 barrel carb and single exhaust :)
