Sorry for the length of this, my first posting to the site. I promise the rest will be short and to the point. I have been a long time reader of this site and always enjoyed reading all of your posting over the years. I never joined since I no longer owned a Maverick. Well I’m getting back into the Maverick world. When I was a kid a friend of the family brought over his brand new 1972 Ford Maverick Grabber. I instantly fell in love with the car and told him not to sell it until I was old enough to drive. I WANTED THAT CAR!. Then in 1976 my parents bought me that car as a combination late High School graduation and early birthday present. Even my girlfriend at the time was driving a Comet. Then in 1997 my heart was stolen by a sexy little Italian with red leather. I had to sell my beloved Grabber to buy a Lancia Scorpion. The only good part of selling the Maverick was selling it to a friend I had since Jr. High School. He is on this site as “Crashed72”. A few more cars have come and gone over the last 26 years but I always missed my Maverick. Crash72 and I have been friends all these years so I always had a chance to see how the “old Mav” was doing. I told Crashed72 that I wanted dibs on the car if he ever decided to let it go. Well I am happy to say I am in the process of buying the car back from Crash72 after all these years. It needs a lot of little things done on a car that is 35 years old, it is in overall good shape mechanically. Needs some cosmic work thanks to the guy who shot through a red light to rework the front end. (See Crashed72 “me” posting). So why call this posting nearly full circle. The original owner who first bought the car passed away a few years ago, so the ownership can not go a full 360 degrees back to him. Lucky for me 359 degrees brings the car back home to me the 2’nd owner.
It seems as though there is something special about the Maverick that draws us back to it. I hear this type of story by many people on this board, including me. I came back to the Maverick because it was my first car too and it brings back alot of great memories. The Maverick is special because of it's extraordinary greatness in simplicity. Welcome to the board.
Welcome aboard. Mavericks are very addictive. Got my first one 31 years ago and still got it...along with 6 more, present time.
