    hey guys,
i have a '77 maverick grabber w/a 302 that has just been rebuilt. its been bored 60 over with a 456 lift cam on the intake and exhaust. im wanting an edlebrock intake topped off with a barry grant, demon carb. but thats where i need the advice. i have no idea where to start looking for the size and carberation of the top end. so if you have a little advice it would be much appriciated.

600CFM would be plenty. I guess if you really wanted, you could go all the way up to around 750CFM, but it is overkill and will likey perform worse. On the other hand, if you have big heads or plan on big heads down the road, you may want to just go ahead and get the larger carb. The general rule of thumb for race applications is CID * Max RPM/3456 *1.1 For a street engine, change the VE from 1.1 to .85. So around 650 MAX for a race application on your car. Less than 500CFM is needed for a typical street engine turning at or below 6500 RPM.

I have the 650 speed deamon and its a great carb. If you have manaul trans, go with mechanical secondaries. For the automatics, I hear mostly vacuum secondaries recomended .

I'm 18, and glad to hear of others in my age group that still know what a real car (and a real motor) is. Keep on truckin' Sorry, not much carb advice, but 600-650 should be adequate. Nothin' worse than an overfueling ford looking runnin like a chev.

You have a choice. I have a 77 Comet with a 302. Speed Demon makes a 575 & a 650. I'm going with a 650. My cam has .491 lift and I will be using Cobra GT40 heads. My car is set up for the street so a 750 would be way to much. Maybe if you stock the 302 to 347 the 750 would work.
