    Hello,

    86 302 roller motor

New bearings, stock crank and rods.

Sealed power 273AP cast pistons 0.030"

    My heads are

    GT40X/SVO x302 heads.

    64cc.

They have been resurfaced but not much was removed.

I also have PROFORM 1.7 roller rockers. Got a screamin deal brand new in box on them so I plan on using them.

The intake will be RPM air gap or maybe another equivalent single plane.

edelbrock 650 with electric choke and vaccum secondaries.

    70 mav

TCI C4 with 3200-3500 stall converter (pending transaction)

    No a/c No power steering

I want the car to sound MEAN at idle, but I know im limited in my cam choice/have to be careful due to the 1.7RR.

I was looking at a few of the comp cams but they are all 110 lobe sep. My cam that was in the car was 106 and it sounded very nice but only had .3 lift (86 with no valve reliefs and e6 heads) It was a turd.

Contact delta, tell them your specs and they'll grind you one for half the price that the big cam companies charge.

Any bigger than the stock Ho cam will not fit with those heads and 1.7 rr. I have an 86 bottom end with e7 heads and a b303 with 1.6 rr and I barely made it. E7's also have smaller valves. Edit just saw that you have aftermarket pistons you'll probably be ok then.

It was a disaster with the 86 pistons...I just tore it apart and put some cast valve relief pistons in, I was stuck with trick flow heads only. $$$

x2 on calling a cam company.
if your having a custom converter made then you should have your cam specs first.
you need to figure out push rod length after you get everything set up to check the rocker to valve contact point.

i would prefer geting a used e303 b303 or f303 cam for $100 than useing a reground ho cam.

i would even prefer to get a tfs cam. ive had really good results with there middle cam http: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-51403002/
and if thats to big i would get there first cam http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-51403001/

Those trick flow cams dont have cam lift numbers...

this guy here looks like it might be useable. Wit 1.7's would be under .55 lift.

300$ for a cam is outrageous.

I have an 86 5.0L, and I use a B303 cam and stock rockers and push rods. I'm afraid to go any bigger on the lift (.480), and the duration is 224. Seems to work fine, but I think I may be leaving some on the table. I am using E7 heads also.

mrp has changed the 86 pistons out for some that have valve reliefs, so he can run more cam than a 86 motor could take stock.
you would need to check the piston to valve clearance with clay. i wouldnt bother. i would just go ahead and change the pistons if you want to run a bigger cam.

Those are valve lift numbers, If i had cam lift i could multiply by my 1.7 to figure out what my lift will be. But now that I think about it I could divide by 1.6 then multiply that number by 1.7 to figure it out.

I think I like that comp cam actually. Stay under .55 with 1.7's maybe get away with stock replacement push rods.
