My amp quit last fall, the protect light is on. I swapped it out with an amp my son gave me and I still have nothing. Amp powers up and the light comes on but no sound. I have a meter but limited experience with it. Im thinking the problem might be at my head unit. Was trying to test the preout leads and didnt get anything on the meter. I tried the lowest d/c setting and I tried ohming it out. Any help would be appreciated.
Does the amp have the option for pre-amp and speaker level inputs? If it does, try speaker level in's> I think the pre levels have very small voltage on the outputs from the head units.. Line out on my Dual head unit is 2volts RMS.
No speaker level inputs on either amp. I messed around with it today. My speakers check out ok. I pulled the pre out rca cable and checked continuity. It checked ok. I may replace my head unit, my son says his amp is good. My head unit is pretty old, it has a cassette deck in it!
