These are the numbers off of my rear for my 1970 Maverick. It is a 10 bolt pumpkin and the tag reads...

    WVD-N OFD
    3 00 8 511A

    Guessing this is a 8" wil 3.00 ratio?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sounds like it.
When you say 'pumpkin', you mean that it does NOT have a rear cover, right?
If so, then it is probably 8".
The 3.00 does mean the gear.
If there was an 'L' in the empty space between the 3 and the zeros, that would mean trac-lok, limited slip, posi... What ever you wish to call it.
The open space without an 'L' means open, or peg-leg differential.
You don't have any reason to believe it might be a 9" do you?
Do you know how to tell a 9"?
They can sometimes be hard to tell from an 8" at a glance.
The have a ten bolt front loading pumpkin too.
On a 8", all ten bolts can be reached with a socket.
If a socket does not go onto the lower couple bolts without hitting the case, then it is a 9"
Your car was not available with a 9" stock, but the last 35 years could have seen one put in there.

sounds like a stock 8" with 3.00 gears to me. does it have 4 or 5 lug. was the 5 lug rear offered in 1970. i can't remeber.

It is a 4 lug barikus..is it possible to change the 4 lug axles out for 5 lug axles or is a rear end swap the only way to get 5 lug?

I've heard both. Some say you can, some say you cant. Get your 5 lug rear, pull 1 axle and try it.

    I've had a few
You have to swap the entire rear. 5 lug axel will not fit in a 4 lug housing. Been there, tried that, measured it took pics ....
