Hello from Nepal! I've got a 1970 Ford maverick undergoing restoration work. The wirings for the voltage regulator were removed by the previous owners and I cannot get them right looking at the wiring diagrams and info from the web. The wires at the alternator side are White/black. I don't know where this goes. Orange. (Field from alternator) Black ( battery +ve to starter solenoid) Also a (green/ red wire goes to dash light The prestolite voltage regulator is marked with I F A B . Any help would be highly appreciated thank you. I've attached pictures as well.
You have a odd duck for sure. I dunno about Nepal but in US, Motorola alts were generally used on farm tractors, marine use etc. From I-net search those alts have a plug in regulator & connector that connect alt & reg, in no case did I see a Prestolite regulator used. Judging from size, that regulator is probably older than your car(and long since defective). I can post a wiring diagram from a 1965 Motors manual, but it shows a 57 ohm resistor & isolation diode in harness that no American Ford used. I'd toss both alt and regulator and go with Ford components or a one wire aftermarket(maybe not practical in your country?). Late model Ford 3G(or 2G) alts are not that difficult to wire and include internal regulator. Practically no one uses the 2G but I've had one on my Comet for seven years. Welcome.
Welcome from Northeastern Illinois! If possible I would try going w/ 1 wire aftermarket unit. Get rid of all those wires and have lot simpler hookup, more amperage. I also see there is enough corroison/resistance buildup on those regulator connections to render useless. I realize changing to aftermarket may not be an option, but, just a thought.
