Hello all I am new to forum like I expressed. I wanted to know a few things. I am looking into an intake manifold to replace my 2v manifold and I am looking along the lines of a dual plane. Either summit or edelbrock. My question is which type do I get EGR or Non-EGR and what is the difference. I want to run a traditional v8 setup without all the damn hoses for this and that all over the place. I will be getting a 4 barrel 600 cfm edelbrock to top the manifold. Lastly in my attempt to take crap off my vehicle like the under dash air flow boxes and such I came across a metal canister in my engine bay with a small piece of aluminum pipe that connects to original air cleaner. Its on the passenger side againest firewall. What is it for and can I remove it? Thought It might have to do with A/C no A/C in car though.

What state are you in? if you arent in cali you should be able to get the non EGR but you should double check the state smog laws "just in case". definately get the edelbrock instead of summit if possible. that metal canister is the vapor recovery carbon canister <=(not the exact name ) that your gas tank vents to. It doesnt have to be attached necesarily to the carb but i suggest having it connected to the smallest metal line coming off of it still just to filter vapors.
