Thats a pretty vague statement. You must first decide on what you want the motor to do. All street, street/strip, all strip, & how much you want to spend. Also you need to decide what trans your gonna use cause its all gotta work together.

if you are looking to make a great street car you can't go wrong with the edelbrock rpm kit. they give you all the part numbers to make(according to them) 367 horsepower. i have it on my car and my engine builder approximates between 340-350 h.p. at the flywheel. plan on spending some cash though whatever you do. i have tried the cheap route and it always ends up costing more in the long run. good luck

Take one maverick and throw $$$$$$$ at it and it will go fast. The harder you throw the money the faster it will go. :D Just be honest about how much money you are willing to spend on you car and a solution will present itself.

If you want to add a little power without spending a lot, start with dual exhaust and maybe an aluminum intake and small 4 barrel carb and even an electronic ignition. This will give you a good 20hp jump and good driveability. A set of lower gears (higher numerically) will give you a good seat of the pants feeling of power but at the expense of higher RPMs and usually a little MPG.

If you are looking for more I would look for a good 347 cu in. crate motor. Good luck and keep us informed.

347 stroker, AFR 205's, lots of good internal parts and 13.5 to 1 compression......I'd say it woud be pretty mean :D

Danger Ranger, these folks give really good advice. Several of them (heavy on THEM and not ME) have VERY fast cars, so they know their stuff. Take their advice and do your homework on different combos and you will like your results. Good Luck! Preston

thanks for all your help guys i'll take a lot of all your advice ito concideration. i plan on spending maybe 2-3,000 on the engine. and can't decide on either a c-4, AODE, or the T-5. its my first engine i've rebuilt. so it'll be fun. i want it to be a street/strip.

thanks again, i'll keep you all posted on my progress.

    Joking aside.
    1) good exhaust.(headers and good mufflers)
    2) good ignition (my preference MSD)
    3) good intake, cam and carb.
    4) 3.55 gears or 4.11's(if not alot of highway use)
    5) good posi-unit
    6) Tranny (C4 with shift kit)
    7) stahl converter (Cam, intake and carb will help determine the stahl rpm)
    8) quality shocks (front and back)
    * heads are always nice, but get pricie. You put together a nice package with about list and you will have a nice running hotrod.

**PAW sales a nice rebuild kit for the 302. fairly priced.

***all of this assuming you have a solid bottom end.
    Keep us updated.

The best advice I can give you is do it right the first time. If you are looking for a certain goal(350hp or low 12's in the 1/4 ie...) do not compromise if you do you will always say I was gonna do that. If it takes a couple years to save the cash then do it. I have half assed my car from day one(I was really young and dumb all right) However After this years Roundup nationals JULY 27-31( had to plug it John :D ) MIne will be retired for a full restoration done for me,by me, all my way and it will be done when it gets done. NO timelimits just gonna enjoy being one with the machine. Resistance is Futile. :yup:
