I noticed after putting the new slicks on my car that there are some clearance issues with the lip on the inside of the quarter panel. It looks like when I launch hard at the track the lip will come in contact with the tire. I've heard of rolling the lip up under the quarter but I'm wondering if this is the best way and since the car has new paint on it I don't want to mess it up.....I've considered one of those air "nibblers" that trim sheet metal....Any suggestion?? I need to resolve this problem before I go to the track tomorrow.....

Try installing air shocks in the rear. Then you can pump them up to your desired height. This might be a lot easier than altering the body permanently.

Just a thought on how we did ours, the 28x10.5x15 MT's were very close to rubbing. Took a old little league wooden bat and put 20lbs of air in the tires, starting at the rear, inserted bat handle between tire and inner fender lip. Rolled car foward slowly and repeated this until lip clearance was improved, still had to do a little light hammer work on it too. If you are careful and take the time, should not damage the paint. However nothing is a sure thing, if you use air shocks or springs on the shocks to raise car up, you will get a sad ride and also in racing applications, the launch will suffer as will weight transfer to the ground. Even putting on long rear shackles will help but the body will still come down on the tire sidewall under hard accelleration. Tubbing and coil over with ladder bars etc. is another option but I don't think that is what you are looking for, not knowing what size slicks you have, this is just how we did it on 10.5's
