    Was a Comet
If it's the 250 6cyl, the trans will work, all you will need is the V8 frame mounts (ask around here or Auto Krafters has new for 200), and make sure that you have a front sump oil pan. The exhaust is tight, and you may consider finding a dual-hump trans crossmember (V8 Mavs and Granadas have 'em). Just got done with this on a 75 Comet, very easy swap.

    Welcome from Northern California!:chirp:
If you just want a dash pad cover, you can get them on ebay for under $100.

get your wallet out if you want a new dash pad. you can buy a dash cap for much much cheaper (dash cap is a hard plastic piece that slips over your dash pad in case you didnt know) I saw one in person and they look nice for a driver car.

I called upholstery shops around town and they wanted $400+ to repair and recover my dash pad
autokrafters is a good place to buy anything except the 1/4 panel seals theyre not offered anywhere. I know a member here made some replacements that seemed to be as good as factory or better according to the people who bought a set

as far as the v8 swap its easy just consider headers instead of exhaust manifolds theyre easier to put on in my opinion. you put them on from underneath so ist kinda scary to have your car WAY up in the air working under it on the ground.

    Don't use the 250 flywheel/flexplate on the 302...they're different. The 250 is zero-imbalance and the 302 is 28 oz.

Agreed, this is a often overlooked point...

If the 302 is newer than '81 you'll need a 50oz balance flexplate which for the case fill, small bell, C4(157 T flex) used in Mav/Comet is a aftermarket piece... Ford never offered this trans behind the later 302/5.0...

After checking the numbers on the motor it appears to be a 78/302

Maddad, you may want to try Ebay motors. You can pick up the dash cap an the head liner cheap. Auto Krafters has a shop that makes them in New Market Va.
