Does anyone here know where i can get a new set of wheels like the ones that were put on the 1977 Maverick? I love the wheels that are on my Mav but they are in bad shape and all but one are missing the cool little logo in the center. I am gonna be able to buy them around Feb/March and want to start pricing them. Thanx
Looks like the Magnium 500's. Reproduce by a couple of companies and available at Coker Tire or AutoKrafters.
Gee that wheel looks familar. I have the same wheels on my Maverick. Way back when I first got the car, one of the wheels had a bent rim that was too bad to fix. We found out that Chysler has the same rims with the same bolt pattern. The only difference I saw was the Chysler emblem stamped on the rim. The beauty ring hides that. That wheel is now on my spare tire. AMC also has the same kind of wheel, but the wheel is not as deep and the brake rotors will rub against it.
hey jean. which car if any today uses the same bolt pattern? i want to find one and use its' "donut" for a spare. these mav trunks are space challenged.
That's a good question Scott. To tell you the truth, it's not something I ever thought about before and I really don't know what to tell you. The only thing I can think of would be the Granadas and Monachs. As for cars from the 90's to present, I don't have a clue. Anyone have any ideas?
Jean, The dodge wheel is the same in all aspects. EXCEPT the centre hole for the centre cap. The diameter is different so you wouldn't be able to use the ford caps.
the spares from newer crown vic's and grand marquis and lincoln towncars will bolt right up and there very thin..
The center hole on the Dodge wheel is different? That's news to me. I have a Styled Steel Dodge wheel on my 76' Maverick that I think came off a Datona. The center cap is still on there and thats saying a lot considering how perfectly smooth our roads are around here. Or maybe we just got lucky so far. I do have another Chysler rim and a Ford rim in the garage so I'm going to take a good look at both of them. Maybe they are different and I just didn't notice before. I'll have to check that out.
I used Chrysler wheels and they worked out just fine! Since they were free, I have no idea exactly what they came off of. I ahve a pic on the main board that I will bump up for you! Later, Scott
As long as you use a wheel with a 4 1/2" bolt pattern and the right offset, you will have no problem. You have to watch with some early rims. I came upon a magnificent set of original chromes from a '66 Mustang GT along with mounted red stripe Firestones and now I have to sell them because the disc brake hub is too thick and hits the inner wheel. If it was 4 wheel drum, they'd have fit.
