FYI - Just picked up a rebuilt PS Cylinder and Valve for my 72 Grabber from AutoZone. Alot cheaper than getting them from a Mustang shop. $60 for the cylinder and $90 for the valve. Keep those cores - $30 for the cylinder and $60 for the valve.
euwww Good luck with the parts from auto zone ... Ive personally never had any luck with parts that ive gotten from auto zone ... Ive replaced the fuel pump twice then after the third time it went i went to napa .. havnt had a problem since ... same thing with my water pump , starter ,and carb ...
Hmmm Well - They were remanufactored by a company call ALCO - I think. I had to put the cores back in the original boxes. I hooked everything up but am missing one of the cylinder to valve lines - ordered two but they only sent one. Once I have the other line tomorrow I'll fill it up and see how it works. Dan
thats funny.my auto zone is usually very reliable...when i got plugs, they were, of course pre-gapped, the water pump i got was a remanufactured direct ford one($17), they even got me a carb kit ordered and delivered in less then 4 hours..
hmm I purchaced a water pump for my 352 and i think i paid $13 ... it was re-manufactured and had a warranty but it didnt last 6 months ... got a new one and the same thing ... finally got my money back and went to napa and everythings fine ( but i ended up paying like $70)... Same thing with my carb ... Bought a re-man carb then it started running rough and stalling ... I didnt think it was the carb cause it was new ... i took it to a shop and they ended up re building a rebuilt carb ... the base plate was warped and they said that some of the parts werent even for that carb ... i dont blame autozone but i do blame thier supplier ... My dad always told me " You get what you pay for " its true ... Dont get me wrong autozone is a great place for cheap replacement parts... but ill only use them if its a temporary fix ...
yeah..my water pump seems to be working fine...with refab. parts i usually go with autozones 2nd tear of pricerange or something..lol..not the cheapest, but in between the cheapest and the middle
We always get the "lifetime" warranty, or at least the longest possible. Especially with engine bearings...every year, we get new ones, they have a 1-year warranty on them! Makes freshening up a lot cheaper.
